DOCENTS NEEDED
AT THE MUSEUM OF MAN

Museum DocentWith permanent exhibits on Ancient Egypt, the Maya, the Kumeyaay, and human evolution, as well as several changing exhibits, the Museum of Man has something for everyone. Our mission is to teach people about people, and we invite you to help us!

If you love culture and history, please consider sharing your passion while enriching the educational experiences of Museum visitors by becoming a Museum Docent. Our docents lead general public tours of the Museum and its exhibits. Docents also have the opportunity to specialize in a particular area of interest and to share that information with school groups and special tours. Education outreach in local schools is another way to volunteer.

If you are interested in becoming a docent, please complete our Volunteer Application Form available here and fax it to (619) 239-2749. High school and college students are encouraged to apply.

For more information about the San Diego Museum of Man Docent Program, please contact the Education Department at (619) 239-2001, ext. 31 or education@museumofman.org

Volunteer Opportunities at
the Children's Discovery Center

The newly renovated Children's Discovery Center at the Museum of Man with its interactive activities and exhibits centered around an Egyptian theme, offers new opportunities for Volunteers of all ages. The center is open daily from 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and volunteers are needed to help staff the area on weekends and during the week. Families can volunteer together, with a team of a parent, or grandparent, and child 12 years of age or older. Volunteers help visitors use the exhibits, keep the area tidy and stocked with supplies, and have fun themselves learning about an ancient culture. Volunteers can work a flexible schedule, but are requested to contribute four hours a month for at least six months. The Museum can also help students meet their requirements for Service Learning hours with time spent in the Children's Discovery Area, or with volunteering to help at special events. Individual or Family Volunteers should contact the Education Department at education@museumofman.org or call (619) 239-2001 ext. 31 for further information.
