Q: What is my first step to becoming an SDMoM volunteer?
A: Complete the application and you will be invited to an upcoming orientation.

Q: What is the youngest age for volunteering?
A: Youth opportunities start at age 16 and these are limited to summer camp counselors. Please check back in late spring for information regarding summer camp volunteers. All other volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.

Q: Are there specific qualifications to become a volunteer?
A: An interest in anthropology is great for any of our volunteer positions. All volunteers receive training and information based on their program of interest.

Q: Is there a time commitment for volunteering?
A: Time commitment varies by position, but most require about 10 hours per month.

Q: Does the Museum offer internships?
A: The Museum does not offer paid internships. Unpaid internships are limited. Departments list available internships as positions become available. Please see the internship page for more information.
