THE TOWER AFTER HOURS™ ARCHIVES document the Museum's ongoing series of events celebrating San Diego's unique and vibrant ethnic mix.

Inaugurated in 2004, the Tower After Hours series celebrates San Diego's diversity with special evenings of food, live entertainment, and exhibits produced in collaboration with the many ethnic communities of San Diego. Made possible with the participation of San Diego community organizations and performing groups, the events have been featured as favorite "Must-see" attractions and "Best Bet" cultural programs in the local press and on television programs in both San Diego and Tijuana.

In the Tower After Hours series, the main floor of the Museum becomes a place for San Diego's diverse communities to share with attendees their rich cultural heritage through cuisine and performing arts, and to present their current projects and programs. The food is prepared by local restaurants, community groups, and celebrities, and a wide variety of musicians and dancers bring each evening alive. For each program, a display case featuring the history and culture of each community with objects, photos, and explanations of the community's origins and contributions to San Diego is installed just inside the entrance of the Museum for the month prior to each event. To create the displays, the Museum partners with community groups and cultural organizations. Each display provides an opportunity for the participating community members to tell their stories as San Diegans.

The Museum's first THE TOWER AFTER HOURS event featured Music and Dance of Ghana on Thursday, February 26, 2004.

The second THE TOWER AFTER HOURS event featured Brazil Celebration on March 25, 2004.

The third THE TOWER AFTER HOURS presented A Night in the Pacific Islands on April 29, 2004.

The Museum's fourth THE TOWER AFTER HOURS presented Celebrating Perú on Thursday, May 27, 2004.

The Museum's fifth THE TOWER AFTER HOURS event was Noche en México on Thursday, June 24, 2004.

For our sixth THE TOWER AFTER HOURS event, we celebrated Mabuhay Philippines on Thursday, July 29, 2004.

For our seventh THE TOWER AFTER HOURS event, guests enjoyed China Celebration! on Thursday, October 28, 2004.

For the eighth THE TOWER AFTER HOURS event, guests celebrated Irish culture at Emerald Isle on Thursday, February 24, 2005.

For the ninth THE TOWER AFTER HOURS event, guests celebrated Iranian culture at Nowruz: A Persian New Year on Thursday, March 31, 2005.

Guests enjoyed a celebration of Haru Matsuri: A Japanese Spring Festival for the TOWER AFTER HOURS event on Thursday, April 28, 2005.

For the 11th TOWER AFTER HOURS, guests enjoyed a celebration of Panama! on Thursday, July 28, 2005.

The 12th TOWER AFTER HOURS program was Exotic India! on August 25, 2005.

The 13th TOWER AFTER HOURS program was Puerto Rico! — ¡Borinquen! on September 29, 2005.

On October 27, 2005, the 14th TOWER AFTER HOURS program featured Celebrate Portugal!

The 2006 series of TOWER AFTER HOURS events began on January 26 with our 15th program, Swedish Celebration!

On February 23, 2006, TOWER AFTER HOURS featured ¡Fiesta Española!

On March 30, 2006, TOWER AFTER HOURS guests enjoyed Israeli Celebration.

Viva Italia! was the featured TOWER AFTER HOURS program on April 27, 2006.

Celebrate Lebanon! was the featured TOWER AFTER HOURS program on July 27, 2006.

On August 31, 2006, TOWER AFTER HOURS featured Vietnam.

The TOWER AFTER HOURS event on September 28, 2006, featured Festival Cubano!

The 2007 TOWER AFTER HOURS series began with Irish Céilí on February 22.

The TOWER AFTER HOURS program for March featured Norway, Land of the Midnight Sun on March 29.

On April 26, 2007, the TOWER AFTER HOURS program celebrated the accomplishments of West Africa.

On June 28, 2007, the TOWER AFTER HOURS program celebrated Filipino culture in Mabuhay Philippines.

On August 30, 2007, ¡Viva México! came to the TOWER AFTER HOURS series.

The TOWER AFTER HOURS program for September featured Brazil Celebration on September 27.

TOWER AFTER HOURS celebrated Irish Céilí! on February 28, 2008.

Peruvian Nights was the theme for TOWER AFTER HOURS on March 27, 2008.
