Special Events - The Tower After Hours: Chinese Celebration

Thursday, October 28, 2004

EXPERIENCE THE TOWER AFTER HOURS, the Museum's ongoing series of events celebrating San Diego's unique and vibrant ethnic mix.

On Thursday, October 28, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., the Museum of Man 2004 Tower After Hours series continued with Chinese Celebration! featuring the creative and culinary arts of China. Guests enjoyed regional food and drinks as the performing arts of China come alive with Wu Shu Kung Fu and Tai Chi demonstrations by the Jing Institute of Chinese Martial Arts and Culture, Chinese zither by Lui GuoJing Evans, and traditional dances by the Moonlight Dance Troupe and the Chinese Folk Dance Theatre.

Stop by after work, or drop in on your way to dinner or a show. Each Tower After Hours event presents a unique opportunity to make new friends and catch up with old ones, with the vibrant mix of music, dance, food, and drink taking participants on exciting journeys to far corners of the world. Proceeds from each Tower After Hours evening benefit Museum programs. The cost of The Tower After Hours is $20 for general admission, $15 for members and students. Admission is for adults ages 21 and over only, and includes food, drink, and entertainment. Tickets may be obtained in advance by calling the Museum at (619) 239-2001.

In addition to immersing themselves in the music, dance, and cuisine of these cultures, those attending are able to explore the Museum's exceptional exhibits at no additional cost. This year truly promises to be one of surprises and excitement at the Museum of Man. Watch our Special Events page for news on the next program in The Tower After Hours series.

Chinese Celebration! was made possible by our sponsors SDG&E and the Asia: The Journal of Culture and Commerce with community collaboration from the San Diego Asian Film Festival, the San Diego Chinese Historical Museum Asian Pacific Thematic Historic District, and the Asian Business Association.
