THE SAN DIEGO MUSEUM OF MAN Presents

EXPERIENCE THE TOWER AFTER HOURS, an ongoing series of evening events celebrating San Diego’s unique and vibrant ethnic mix.
On Thursday, October 27, we honored Portugal and the Portuguese community of San Diego with Portuguese food tastings, drink, music, and dance. For this festive event, San Diegans celebrated with the San Diego Portuguese Philharmonic Band, Ze Duarte Garcia and Sal Freitas playing mandolin and guitar, the Adult Portuguese American Dancers, Ze Duarte Garcia singing Fados, and the Junior Portuguese American Dancers. Guests were welcomed by Museum Director Mari Lyn Salvador, and Mary Rosa Giglitto gave a short synopsis of Portuguese history and culture. As the celebration came to a close, Ze Duarte Garcia and Sal Frietas closed the night with music.
Stop by after work for a cool beverage and hot appetizers. The Tower After Hours presents a unique opportunity to make new friends and catch up with old ones, with the vibrant mix of music, dance, food, and drink. Come experience the richness of San Diego's regional cuisine and visual and performing arts. In addition to immersing themselves in the music, dance, and cuisine of Portugal, those attending explored the Museum's exceptional exhibits at no additional cost.
Proceeds from each Tower After Hours evening benefit Museum programs. The cost of The Tower After Hours is $20 for general admission, $15 for members and students. Admission is for adults ages 21 and over only, and includes food, drink, and entertainment. Tickets may be obtained in advance by calling the Museum at (619) 239-2001.
Celebrate Portugal was produced in collaboration with the United Portuguese S.E.S. and the San Diego Portuguese Historical Center.
