Gods & Gold
New Exhibit
Now Open

Uncover centuries of Latin America's mysterious ancient past in Gods & Gold: Ancient Treasures From Mexico to Peru. The exhibition features the Museum's stunning collections of Mexican, Central American, and South American archaeological objects. See rare gold and jewelry, exotic figurines, intricate stonework, and exquisite pottery from the ancient world. Explore distinctions in artistic styles, techniques, and materials used to create the numerous intriguing pieces created by such cultures as the Maya, Aztec, Inca, and many others.

This is a unique opportunity to experience the civilizations that influenced the cultural development of Latin America and captured the imagination and interest of so many people across the world. Also, artist Carlos Vierra's masterful murals of the Mayan cities of Copán and Quiriguá are revealed. Commissioned for the 1915 Panama-California Exposition in Balboa Park, these murals are the last two to be brought out into view, marking the first time in over 50 years that the series of six will be on display throughout the Museum.

Gods & Gold: Ancient Treasures From Mexico to Peru is now open on the main floor.
