Hold Your Next Event at the Museum of Man
The San Diego Museum of Man is the ideal space for your next special event. Set your sights on the landmark California Building, with its majestic tower and tiled dome. Your guests can assemble among the distincive exhibits of the spacious Museum Rotunda, or enjoy the beautiful façade of the Museum in our Spanish-style outdoor courtyard. To make arrangements for your next corporate or private event at the Museum of Man, contact Special Events Manager Monika Wert at 619-239-2001, ext. 15, or mwert@museumofman.org.
In a quiet corner of the building, the historic Saint Francis Chapel awaits your guests for that unique wedding event. To schedule a wedding in the Chapel, contact Monika Wert as above.
Catering
Because the San Diego Museum of Man has high standards of operations and professionalism and some physical limitations, we work with a select group of caterers who are well versed in and trusted by the facility. As partners with our Special Events Department, these caterers function as an extension of the services that the Museum of Man provides and recommends. Full contact information is available on our Caterers and Service Providers page.
Beverage
Because of strict regulations within our operating procedures, and because of our pursuit of quality and value, Event Beverage Solutions has exclusive rights to all alcoholic beverage service within the San Diego Museum of Man's facility. All sales, distribution, and consumption are regulated and overseen by Event Beverage Solutions, as is licensing, insurance, and compliance with the state of California's Alcoholic Beverage Control. For contact information, see our Caterers and Service Providers page.
Production
In addition to our policies on food and beverage service, we also have regulations regarding its impact on exhibits and events. If your event is to have special music, lighting, and/or décor, we would like you to use our preferred production agencies, as they are familiar with our procedures, policies, and electrical requirements. Any production company that is not on the list must be approved by the Museum's Special Events Department, must carry a $3 million dollar per occurrence liability insurance policy (with the San Diego Museum of Man listed as additionally insured), and must meet the strict guidelines of the Museum's Special Events Department. See our Caterers and Service Providers page for contact information.
Weddings
The Saint Francis Chapel is one of San Diego's favorite choices for wedding ceremonies. The Chapel is non-denominational, welcoming ministers of all faiths to perform services in this dignified sanctuary. If you are planning a wedding ceremony and/or reception, please contact Kate Capshaw for planning services. For contact information, see our Caterers and Service Providers page.
