More about the play and exhibit:

Father Comes Home from the Wars by Suzan-Lori Parks
A modern play set against the backdrop of the Civil War, Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winner Suzan-Lori Parks writes a provocative and thrilling tale about a slave who must earn his freedom by fighting for the Confederacy. Using music, poetry and contemporary slang, Father Comes Home from the Wars invites us to decide who we are in a country that both rips us apart and brings us together.

Race: Are We So Different?
The exhibit aims to teach about the history of race in America, the unfounded scientific basis of race as a tool for division and discrimination, and the ways in which all of our lives are impacted, in one way or another, by race and ethnicity. Engage in a small-group dialogue and hands-on activities to improve communication and understanding of differences at school and beyond.
