For over a decade, millions of people from all over the world have been anonymously sharing their secrets with Frank Warren, founder of the community art project, PostSecret. Each postcard submission is a unique work of art handmade by people who needed to share and release their secret into the world.
Our PostSecret exhibit takes a look at the intimacy of keeping and sharing secrets and features an entire section of secrets from people here in San Diego. These San Diego secrets are collected in the exhibit and by our PostSecret Street Team.
The PostSecret Street Team is a group of volunteers who pop up in Balboa Park and around San Diego County to collect secrets specifically for the exhibit. They’ve popped up everywhere from breweries to Farmer’s Markets, and other places in Balboa Park like the Japanese Friendship Garden and the Veterans Museum. The team is getting ready to welcome its second class of volunteers—and we invite you to join the team!
Street Team tasks include:
- Attending the Street Team orientation and training on Saturday, November 3, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Attending monthly Street Team pop-up postcard making stations throughout San Diego – you’ll be assisting with postcard making, and explaining the PostSecret project and exhibit to participants
- Providing general information about the Museum and its mission to people attending the pop-ups
