We have great news! For the fourth year in a row we’ve received the highest rating from Charity Navigator, America’s largest and most-utilized evaluator of non-profits.
The news gets better – our incredible rating means we’re the fourth highest-rated museum in California and one of only 79 museums nationwide to receive the 4-star rating!
Our stellar rating is a result of the Museum maintaining strong financial health while staying committed to accountability and transparency in our mission of inspiring human connections by exploring the human experience. Attaining a 4-star rating means we outperform most other charities in America and exceed industry standards.
Since 2002, using objective analysis, Charity Navigator has awarded only the most fiscally responsible organizations a 4-star rating. In 2011, Charity Navigator added 17 metrics, focused on governance and ethical practices as well as measures of openness, to its ratings methodology. These Accountability & Transparency metrics, which account for 50 percent of a charity’s overall rating, reveal which charities operate in accordance with industry best practices and whether they are open with their donors and stakeholders. On June 1, 2016, Charity Navigator upgraded its methodology for rating each charity’s financial health with CN 2.1. These enhancements further substantiate the financial health of the four-star charities.
Thank you to our amazing staff, board, and volunteers for working so hard to create a financially healthy organization that’s accountable and transparent!
